Ahh, finally. Friday. It was a weird week. I don’t know if it was a combination of recovery from my cold the previous week, or general malaise, but I really had a hard time stayed focused this week. I spent way too much time on the internet (hah hah, as I blog..). It was just hard to care. I don’t remember much of the packages I cut. I would say this week was ‘workmanlike’. Sew it up so it can walk, so to speak. I managed to do some polish today. I think it’s due to the 90 min staff meeting lunch. Nothing like getting into another room for some human contact to blow away the doldrums of working alone.

My super producer is getting more annoying. He’s up to the same schtick, only now I’m getting less and less of a tolerance to it. Anyone who feels out loud can be draining. Now, it seems that everything is an emergency to him. Shame. I liked the guy at first. Now I hope he doesn’t come back

I’ve spent an hour so far waiting for people to come in.  I don’t mind it, as it gives me time to play with this blog, and do some noodling in Live.  But I know I’ll pay for it later on.  There’s always a feeling of being ‘behind’ at this job, ha. in this industry.  It’s a good job, though it has no windows.  Funny how lack of sunlight and fresh air can really impact a person’s demeanor.

Oh, and welcome to the blog. No announcements, no rules.  No goals, no milestones.  Just the way through.

Only For the Weak by In Flames

I can’t tolerate your sadness
Cause it’s me you are drowning (you’re drowning me)
I won’t allow any happiness
Cause everytime you laugh, I feel so… so guilty
I feel so guilty

Am I forced to have any regret
I’ve become the lie, beautiful and free
In my righteous own mind
I adore and preach the insanity you gave to me

Sell me the infection, it is only for the weak
No need for sympathy, The misery that is me

I’ve lost the ability to paint the clouds
Cause it’s me you’re draining (you’re draining me)
I’m stuck in this slow-motion dark day
Cause everytime you run, I fall.. behind
I fall behind

And so I hear my voice again
The tale of the bitter man here I am
Shake the silence and hear what it says
The tranquil pride that become the lie

Sell me the infection, it is only for the weak
No need for sympathy, the misery that is me

Sell me the infection, it is only for the weak
On bleeding knees, I accept my fate

Ahh, fatherhood. Everything they tell you is true, everything they tell you is false. My conception of what ‘fatherhood’ was in relation to the reality of it is akin to an acorn in a forest. And I’m sorry, if you do not have kids of your own, you do not understand. I have a friend who helped take care of friends babies and I think a younger sibiling. He feels like he knows what I’m going through, and therefore I can’t complain. UNLESS YOU ARE A PARENT WHO HAS NOT SLEPT IN 5 MONTHS STRAIGHT, YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.

I barely do. That’s the big realization of fatherhood – humility. That, and how important it is to sleep. Everytime you hear “oh yes, new parents don’t get much sleep’, you relate it to your inner ‘Oh yeah, like when I stayed up all night studying”. Well, NO. A weekend of partying is completely different than the debilitating effects 5 months of little sleep, no sleep, or interrupted sleep has on your mental state. You realize you’re in war.

This is War. War of parenthood. That’s the only other ‘job’ I can think of where you have to be aware, alert, and ready for a change of plans while getting 6 hours or less sleep a night. War.

Can I have shore leave? please?

Ugh.

Granted, It’s amazing to watch our little one. The good outweighs the bad. The bad is just sooo tiring.

10:13 and we begin. We’re still $2000 over budget on this show, even though it’s a clip show by nature. So where do we cut? We cut in content really, and it’s going to show. But our boss is ineffectual at best. Whiny at worst. So he won’t fight the issue, even though other shows have come in far below budget. Sigh, more busy work. But it’s fitting. At least it’s only two hours to lunch….
